Alexander McQueen Fall 2013

The first thing that comes to mind is...exquisite! The variety of texture on a neutral color palate enriches each look. This collection is rich in fabrics and light enough to have movement. Somewhat a sense of the sexy side of a royalty long passed. The collection graduates from angelic to almost an S&M feel without losing continuity & cohesiveness throughout the show. I cannot say enough about the choice, use and combination of fabrics and well thought out placement of each seam and accessory of this collection. The place McQueen created where nostalgia meets the pulse of the moment has not been lost on this collection as it is well represented at this show. On a side note, those gloves....yes, please!

Being able to model for two showcases at once definitely humbles you. To know the amount of work put into these shows is absolutely inspirational. The RAW organization reflects is a growing trend in local support at a time that is clearly disdain as the trust in strong companies has faded.

Funky Eyewear

A big trend for Spring 2013 has been funky eye wear. Eye designers such as Micheal Bastian has been creating fun eyewear looks for men as well. The Ombre shades shown above are part of a crative collection of hip eyewear trends designed by Derek Lam for his Spring looks. These multi-colored shades by Coco and Breezy show an increasing trend in new shapes and color combinations for frames that we will be seeing more of throughout the year as this trend seems to spill into the runways of the upcoming Fall season to come.

Clearl Clever

Jelly is in again! As a child, my favorite shoes were Jelly slippers as they came in every color in the rainbow. They were comfortable, long wearing and fun to coordinate with various outfits. Lots of clear handbags, RTW trenchcoats and footwear have been steadily shown on runways from various designers. Valentino, Burberry, Celine, Givenchy as well as others have included these fabrics in their collections. Fabrics such as polyurethane and plexiglass are being used to bring lighter feel to items that usually carry heavier fabrics. This trend has been big in accessories for the upcoming 2013 spring and summer seasons. These translucent materials have been seen structured into dresses as well in a wide range of candy inspired colors.

Pastel Shine

A trend that I have noticed picking up speed in the upcoming seasons is an iridescent look. The futuristic fabrics have been popular on the runways of Chanel, Johnathan Sanders, Dior, Alejandro Ingelmo as well as others. This trends brings black the subtlety of pastels that were popular in past Spring seasons. This stays in step with the sparkle and shine theme of fall 2012 and brings it into the trends of 2013. The opal shine resembles mother of pearl in some fabrics and color contrasts on others. This is a smart transition between the sparkle of fall fashions and the big bold colors to come for this years summer seasons.

S.Y.L.K.

S.Y.L.K. in the Las Vegas Fashion Chow Mall has the perfect location for trend consumers. Across from Topshop/Topman their products have a similar feel while maintaining a lower price point. The conversion of the pound to the dollar raises the price for U.S. shoppers as does the distribution costs. This atore only includes women's fashions but is comparable in design style and general quality of  RTW clothing and accessories. Able to stay on trend at a more reasonable price where Topshop/Topman shoppers are already looking. Well played, S.Y.L.K. Well played.
